Devil's Hoof

Čertovo kopyto,
Loučovice

The site which translates as Devil’s Hoof can be most easily accessed when taking the blue-marked trail from the dam of Lake Lipno. While on your way, remember to visit a site called Godošova poustevna (Godoš Hermitage), one that once (late 17th century) hosted a Gipsy hermit called Godoš who died here as well.

Devil’s Hoof is an interesting rocky formation that was named after the shape of the top of the rock that really resembles a hoof. Sometimes, it is also called Gipsy Castle, which is linked with myths about gypsies. The place offers a view of Lake Lipno as well as of the municipality of Lipno nad Vltavou.
