on Marta

Na Martě,
Frymburk

On the hill above Frymburk (previously named Marterberg and now known as Marta) there is a chapel called Hohe Marte, which translates as Vysoká muka - Mountain Shrine. The chapel was built in 1898 and refurbished in 2000. It can be accessed via granite-paved stations of the cross the foundations for which were laid as early as in 1894. The top offers the most beautiful view of the peninsula of Frymburk, behind which there is Mt. Plechý on the horizon - the highest peak of the Czech part of Šumava Mountains (1,378 m).
