Rosenauer reservoir

Nové Údolí,
Stožec

Rosenauer Reservoir is a former water work which served as a source of water for floating timber down the Schwarzenberg Navigation Canal; it actually served as its starting point. The reservoir is now out of operations with a broken levee and with no water. The area becomes overgrown by vegetation. However, there are still preserved remnants of the great deal of work of Josef Rosenauer who was the designer and builder of the Canal. There is a monument to his memory located by the reservoir. The reservoir can be easily reached by bike or on foot from Stožec, from Nové Údolí (4 km following the red marks), or, up the stream, even from Jelení Vrchy (13 km following the blue marks).
