Medvědí hora (Bear Mountain)

Medvědí hora,
Loučovice

The mountain of Medvědí hora (Bear Mountain, 934 m) near Loučovice is a nice destination for a trip, whether by foot or by mountain bicycle. In addition to Loučovice, the mountain is possible to access from the dam of Lake Lipno following the blue marks. The mountain alone was named after bears that used to range locally as a native species. The territory is part of Vyšebrodsko Natural Park and presents the remnants of a mixed mountain forest with numerous screes, small rocks and boulders. Beeches prevail here; the local forests are rich in birds, which brings bird watchers and nature lovers amazing experiences from bird “concerts” - chiefly in the springtime.

Feathered creatures encountered here include the common chaffinch, the Eurasian blackcap, the Eurasian wren, the common blackbird, the coal tit, and even the stock dove. Northern goshawks and black woodpeckers nest locally as well.

The view from the top of the mountain into the surrounding area is slightly reduced with grown-up vegetation.
