Maria Rast
Maria Rast am Stein - which translates Marie odpočívající na kameni in Czech or Lady taking a rest on a stone is a pilgrimage site that is still known by the local people under the German name. The place is located uphill of Vyšší Brod on the slope of the hill of Martínkovský kopec. The easiest way to access the chapel is the stations of the cross which can be reached from the Vyšší Brod square following the green marks. The same signs mark the access from Studánky or from the waterfall of St. Wolfgang. The place where the chapel is located has also been entered in the map of mysterious places of Šumava. The actilite in the form of a granite block is characterised by superb energy.
